My folks live in South Jersey. We obviously live here. Sometimes neither of us feel like driving the whole way up or down to meet for family fun.

I'd love a couple of standards to go to with my toddler in between there and here for a day trip. Princeton, new brunswick, that area would be good.

I know about the sculpture gardens in Hamilton (a must see if you haven't), but are there any really good children's museums, or indoor play spaces between here and there for a toddler? Something to do now while it's still a little chilly?

My daughter loves the children's library room in the main library at Princeton University.

It isn't a circulating library, but has a lovely selection of books to read while there, often offers crafts, and has lots of great nooks for kids to hide in and read if you need a quiet hour, or are in town on a rainy day.

The Princeton University Art Museum also has a small but diverse collection (both art and archeology), and is a nice place to expose little kids to art for an hour or so on a rainly day (just across the plaza from the library).

On a nicer day, the campus can be a great place for kids to romp.

Can you tell we spent a rainy day in Princeton recently?
