My former cleaning person who was also from Brazil, recommended Fernandes. We have been there several times and it's very good. Nice salad bar with grilled veggies and lots of other stuff too. They also do rodizio, (if you "do" rodizio, I don't!). I know a bunch of other people here have recommended Iberia, Don Pepe & Fornos. We have been to 2 of the 3 and have found them just ok. |

I thought I noticed a new Brazilian place in Summit. Our absolute favorite Brazilian place is on the upper East Side of NYC. It is called "Circus". It is unbelievably good and not terribly expensive. The scene is clean white tablecloths and lots of fresh food. I highly reccommend it. FWIW: My Brazilian babysitter prefers to eat out at Italian places for her special occasions (she thinks her homemade Brazilian food is better!) |

The best Brazilian in Newark is Boi Na Brasa. Adams street. They have a newer location in Newark also. Check their website. Brazilians actually go there. Iberia, Fornos and Don Pepe are not Brazilian. |

We recently ate at Sol Mar on Ferry Street and loved it. Two different types of rooms - one in front that is real busy and bright, the other in back which is quieter with more of an atmosphere. Great food. Less well known. |

Best Brazilian food in the northern hemisphere is Plataforma on w. 49th st. Boi Na Brasa is also pretty good. Quality of the meat was decent and the price was right. |

Ok, I don't know if it's the best, but it sure is good and it is totally cozy. Drinks are great. Get the Pao de Queso which are phenomenal. Get some cupcakes at Magnolia afterward. You can't go wrong. In the west village, Delicia Restaurant 322 W 11th St New York, NY 10014-2301 (212) 242-2002 |

Thanks. I think maybe Boi Na Brasa might work but Brazilia is the only one listed in zagat but the Village Voice gave Boi Na Brasa a great review. It's funny that my nanny thinks she is the best cook too and she really is. I could eat beans and rice forever. |

Boi Na Brasa is not a zagat kind of place. Nothing fancy about the setting, but it is a big favorite with the Brazilians in the neighborhood. With ethnic food, this supersedes zagats for me. |

Na Brasa is very good. It will remind you of a "worker's cafe or bistrot" in Portugal or Latin America. Not fancy. Homey. Friendly. Good value for the buck. E barato. |

My sweet Brazilian friend just told me there is a "new" Boi Na Brasa on Merchant street (I think.) She said it is lovely and nicer than the old location on Adams. She also told me that her husband (the world champion of arm wrestling both left and right armed - he eats tons) thought that the food at Plataforma in NYC was as good as back home in Brazil. He ate so much he couldn't finish his meal there - for the first time in his adult life! |

Went to Brasilia Grill on Monroe (just off Ferry in the Ironbound section) this past week and came away well pleased. Lot of folks were there for a Tuesday night. The rhodizio was wonderful and the service was excellent. |

We like Campino on Jabez. Other Ironbound recommendations--Casa Vasca (not Brazilian), Tony DaCaneca, Don Pepe (not in the Ironbound, though). |

Solar D'Minho on Cleveland St, in Belleville. All my Brazilian friends eat there and they just introduced a no smoking section . . .

We took my parents to Tony Da Caneca on Saturday for my mom's birthday. We really enjoyed it. The scene is much more mellow than most other places we've been to in the Ironbound. At 5:30pm on a Saturday it seemed like there were just a few regulars, but by the time we left it was pretty crowded. The service was very attentive. The food was very fresh. We even asked about a kids menu, but my 10yo wanted steak. They brought her a nice piece of steak and fries for $8! The sangria was also delicious, actually tasted like it was made with wine, not too sweet or watered down. Everyone else got fish or seafood. The desserts were great and the cappuccino was perfect! |

Pippi, we would definitely go there again. No rodizio though, but plenty of meat and seafood options. |

I just learned today from my Brazilian friend that "Boi Na Brasa" means "bull on the fire" (or brazier to be more specific.) I love it! I will never forget the name it's the Flaming Bull! |
