Today was Sakura Sushi's first day. They are located across from the Millburn train station in the old My Favorite Muffin location - 44 Essex St. Food was fresh. To be honest, I really couldn't differentiate the food from Samurai or Sono, but I also didn't order anything unusual. I'll have to try some varied menu items before I have a verdict. Prices were in-line with the other Millburn sushi joints. 1st day hiccup: They couldn't take Amex, but said that they would be able to tommorow. No delivery available yet, but soon. Service was quick, open on a Monday....but they also weren't packed. Their website will be: http://www.sakurasushi.com/ 973-379-4900 Mon-Thurs 11:30am-10:00pm Fri-Sat 11:30am-11:00pm Sun 3pm-10pm |

kevin, the weblink is to a sakura sushi restaurant in Monterey, CA. doesn't look like they are related restaurants. just like the zillion 'Beijing' Chinese restaurants, 'Taj Mahal' Indian, and 'Bangkok' Thai. 8) Thanks for the first review nevertheless! |

Okay- I picked up the takeout menu and saw that it was just a sushi joint- someone had told me it was going to be more of a steakhouse. So what were they thinking? Millburn already has 2 very popular sushi restaurants, plus a 3rd (Ginger Spice) that serves sushi as well. And the Samurai in Maplewood seems to be doing quite well. Is there really enough demand for yet another sushi restaurant? They obviously spent a lot of money too, turning the muffin shop into a sushi restaurant- that was a big $$$ construction job. |

yeah... does sound like a real saturation of midlevel japanese restaurants. plus don't forget Pinang Taste 5 min away that also has sushi (although u wouldn't go to a Malaysian restaurant for sushi I realize)... |

Copperfield -- maybe the folks at Sakura will actually be able to make good Japanese food and sushi. |

Ginger Taste does not serve sushi. Sushi is probably what caused the management turnover and name change a while ago. It was not selling well, and probably cost them a fortune. |

Ginger Taste, the business, has been for sale for a long time... It was for sale before the name change from Sampan. |

Thinking about it, there are already three places to get sushi in South Orange. So if South Orange can handle three, Millburn surely can. Ariyoshi Sakana (previously Tomo) Haru
