Anyone know where I can get me some pupusas nearby? For those who haven't tasted, they are Salvadorean stuffed corn tortillas. |

There is a place in Orange (pretty darn good) & in Morristown (also good)...we generally go to the city - Spanish Harlem - St. Nicholas Ave., I believe... EL SALVADOR RESTAURANT, 973-414-9677. ORANGE, NEW JERSEY 07050 |

Thanks, Doulamomma. Two quick questions.....How's the parking near the Orange place? Also, I googled for the place in Morristown and came up empty. Can you give me a general idea where it is? Somewhere near the green? |

I recall that there was parking right by the place in Orange - maybe their own lot...it's very little & not in the best neighborhood, but not that bad - we went with kids during the day The place in Morristown is before turning right to get to the green - it's on the left (little storefront) accross from a strip mall-ish area where there is a Burger King...hope they are still around. I have not been there in years & recall that they had funny hours & were often closed. I still think the place in the city is the best(Restaurant Salvadoreno, 1229 St. Nicholas Ave. bet. 171/172, nyc, 212-927-3898) Street parking - don't park in the fast food place (KFC?) - they tow & get a kickback, or so some nice folks told me when we were about to park there. If you're heading into the city, it's worth the trip. Do you also get the tamals (like tamal elote (sp?)) & the sweet plantains with crema? Yum! |

there is a restaurant in Irvington on springfield ave on the left side of the road if your leaving maplewood. (not far from the border) I had papusas there and they are good I like the orange location better though.
