Here’s to the Arts in Maplewood This place is a diamond in the rough. The atmosphere is laid back, very friendly, and fun. Most importantly, the food is exceptional. Mark Clayton is a fantastic chef, especially when it comes to his 4 cheese rigatoni (cooked al dente). I don’t mean to brag but I do know good food and this is where to find it. They even have a Hungarian pastry chef! Plus, the prices are too good to be true and the place is great for couples, families, and parties. I can’t wait for Here’s to the Arts to get the attention it deserves.

Is there an MOL FtoF, like the ones that are happening at Heart and Soul, brewing for end of April???? |

Aside from the fact that this reads like thinly disguised hype from somebody involved with the restaurant, are we really supposed to be impressed with a chef because he makes good mac and cheese? |

If you are referring to BGS...I have nothing to do with Here's to the Arts except that I have been a patron prior to the liquor license and think that it is a good thing to promote any new business in our two towns. If it is not me that you are referring to, then my above statement still stands... ;-) BGS |

Ummmmm... a place that does good mac and cheese is good enough for vegetarian little ole me. If you do a MOL search on Mac and Cheese you will find that that specific dish is actually QUITE popular with our community. |

Hey, I like mac&cheese, and although there are several good places to get it locally, including Church's Kitchen and Heart & Soul, I'll be happy to check out H2TA's version. I was planning to crash las' party there last week, but I wussed out, so this gives me another incentive to go there... Oh, and BTW: Did Mark Clayton use to work at THD? I ask because he's listed by Rosie Saferstein in "NJ Monthly" as the new Executive Chef at H2TA, and I thought that the guys at THD pretty much just made sandwiches. So what's up with the spiffy title? I guess it'll look good on his resume down the road... -s. |

I was thinking of organizing a M.O.L. gathering at HTTA in April or May. This would be to inaugurate their new liquor license. Before anyone asks, no I do not work for HTTA, nor am I an owner or stockholder. Also, I did not, nor do I now work for Heart & Soul, nor am I or was I an owner when I promoted the gatering last month. I arranged the gathering, and probably will do so because I like to support local restaurants and I enjoyed meeting the people who post online. Scully also worked with me to coordinate the Heart and Soul gathering. Unless she is keeping it a secret, she also did not work for nor own stock in H & S.

"I can’t wait for Here’s to the Arts to get the attention it deserves." I'll second that Buttercup! HTTA offers another interesting choice for local folks to have a bite to eat, an adult beverage, and some great nightly entertainment. It’s also a great place for a small private party… And, I'm only sleeping, aside from the fact that I helped give birth to H2TA and I'm a self appointed advocate for local businesses, I feel your comment of "thinly disguised hype from somebody involved with the restaurant" is an unnecessary cheap shot. And, are we also supposed to be impressed with your "Good Mac and Cheese" wise crack? I think it's time for your wake-up call pal! Save your odious unsupportive comments for things that deserve it, not our local businesses trying to make a living by providing interesting new venues for our community... BTW Soda, I'm sorry to read you wussed out at Las's party, you missed a good time. Listen, let me offer even another incentive to go there. Which ever way helps get you there, I could either not be there, or if you're willing I can be there and buy you a drink... Either way, I hope you drop in some time and enjoy the hospitality, good food and drink, and of course the great nightly entertainment! Cheers... |

Who would have thought. ajc and I are on the same side of an issue. I like HTTA. People are friendly, it is a very easy going place, and the food is good. What more can you ask for? Well, maybe some strippers. I will talk to Art about that. |

Thanks to those of you who jumped to my defense. And, no, I'm not affiliated with HTTA. I simply give credit where it's due. I think it's such a shame when people react negatively to positive, innocuous postings on MOL. |

Change in plans....I met with Art last night. Jamie is planning an event at HTTA in the near future. Scully and I will organize one after that event. It will be approximately one month after so that we don't suffer from "burnout" from having too many events. JC |

SoOrLady - not sure if I'll do stand up at each venue - but certainly at HTTA. In fact it is comedy night at 9 on the 24th, so after we finish feasting - stick around for a laugh or two. We will have a fixed price. Caribbean Cuisine will be buffet style - Cent'Anni we'll have a choice of a couple dishes - I'm not sure about HTTA - I'll find out soon. |

I found this article about mac and cheese interesting. I believe the line "stuck a feather in his hat and called in macaroni" refers to the "dandy" who was so full of himself because he ate an exotic dish called macaroni. I.e. it was exotic in 18th century America. [sigh] The f2f's don't work well for me on weeknights. Maybe I'll make it one day.
