Yay! I went to Spring Fields Natural Food Market (on Springfield Ave near Prospect intersection). Their awning just went up! I was driving home and saw the awning and though "I should go in there." I stopped just past there and saw some kids walking down the street eating fruit "leather" and was so thrilled to see some kids in Maplewood eating something good, NOT chips or candy or soda. I figured they got that at Spring Fields and decided to go right there and spend some money...if only to support such a resource for the kids in the area! It's a lovely store. They are getting additional shipments all the time and expanding their offerings. Go there and spend some money...it is so terrific to have a great alternative in the area to Whole Foods. Prices seem comparable to me. I bought some organic cake mix and frosting (turned out yummy), bread (hello...didn't have high fructose corn syrup...why does bread need corn syrup?!?!), spaghetti sauce and frozen food. I'm going to try and get whatever I can from them. Great for the basics that we eat regularly. The owner (name?) was very nice. We chatted for a while about good eating and the kids. I'm excited. Please go check it out...Springfield Ave is looking up! |

Treena is the owner (and a neighbor). Her kids are very nice too. :-) (The awning went up over a week ago, and it is very nice.) |
