Anyone ever been to the Isle of Man (no jokes, please) ? Any tips on where to stay, what to do -- am not interested in the motorcycle race. I might have the opportunity to accompany my husband on a business trip there this summer, and am wondering if it is worth it.

Quite worth it. I've spent a lot of time there (flew over from Irish Republic a number of times). Have rented houses near the shore in Douglas and have spent a lot of time in Castletown and Ramsey.

Have often thought of moving there (as I am originally from Ireland) because it has a great quiet lifestyle and feels about 15 years behind the rest of Europe without lacking any modernities. Pub life, societies, and associations are the main ways to get out and meet others there.

It's a blast. Word of warning--- winters can be long and wet, but you won't be there then.
