In South Orange you have to pay the bribery fee before you can place tables and chairs outside.

This is the time of year to visit a nice biergarten!
I wish they hadn't torn down that place on Liberty? before I had gotten a chance to try it...

In Austin (TX), at this time of year, you sit outside and admire the lights strung from one old live oak tree to another while you eat unbelievable food and listen to great music...sigh....

Doesn't Voro have something going on outside in nice weather?

Did Dasti's have a liquor license? If so will the Indian restaurant (IF IT OPENS) have liquor, because I love their outdoor seating area.

The former EJ's Grille in Kenilworth, off 22 East, by Levitz Furniture, had a huge outdoor bar area. I think it's now an Irish restaurant..Blackthorne's maybe??

george, I never went to EJ's, but I have been to blackthorn's a couple times. It has always been at night and I never noticed any outdoor area. Is it around back somehwere?

For what it's worth, the food there is pretty good. Mostly bar type food, but the specials are very tasty and seem to be switched around pretty often. (Although this may not be true because I am basing this on only 3 or four trips there in the last year and a half.)

I gone for drinks outside at Toro Loco - not sure that it was a happy hour, per se, but it was fun!

Ugh, you have to be under age 22 to enjoy Black Thorne, which is sad because EJ's was fun and had that whole outdoor thing going on.

Mem's backyard...the best part is, as youre sipping the high octane beverage du jour, you get to look out at the wildlife frolicking around at dusk and handpick what you'll be having for dinner.

Does she make you catch it too? That would be pretty cheap and outrageous in my humble opinion - my opinion being especially humble when it comes to mem's backyard.

Boomie, as long as you go there for dinner you should be fine. But,when you see bouncers take positions at the front door it's time to get the check.

I've never found a good outdoor bar in the SO/M area for happy hour. Since I work in New York I'm always there for happy hour. Moran's in the World Financial Center was always the place to go for happy hour (any day of the week, but particularly on Thursday's and Friday's from April/May-September). After 9/11 that of course ended. Moran's is no longer and the space is now P.J. Clarke's. Haven't been there yet but I look forward to going this spring/summer. There are other outdoor bars/restaurants in the immediate area. Large crowds with lots of good looking people.

If you're not in NYC you can take the train to Hoboken and then hop on the ferry which will take you over there. From SO you can be there in 45 minutes. It's expensive so have a few before you go!
