We had dinner last nite at Terra-my first time there. the food was wonderful. I was quite full but still wanted dessert-so I went with the chocolate-hazlenut ice cream. I was expecting some store-bought product-the ice cream was "outstanding"!! It is all made on site-the very best ice cream I have ever had!! Check it out!

I think jeans would be fine, just "nice" jeans -- no holes, etc.

Jeans are fine. My running joke is "as long as they won't arrest you for wearing it down Maplewood Ave, you're fine". We try to have an atmosphere where you'll be comfortable in anything from jeans to jackets. Obviously, customers tend to "dress" a bit more on weekends than during the week, but "It's all good."

Did not make it to Terra last night as there were no available reservations to be had. Will definitely plan in advance next time!

thanks for defining the dress code, Pete!

My girlfriend and I used to live in Maplewood and went to the place when
it was American Fare... Chef Burbela has gone in a great new direction while not leaving anyone behind who enjoyed Chef Gruters' more classic cuisine.

The place is very cozy, casual, and it's BYOB. Jeans are fine. The "starry night" motif is really a cool change. It's upscale food without all the pretentiousness and hautiness. They just do the best to put out a damn fine product. What more can you ask for?

The service was a bit spotty for the past few weeks due to very tight staff (and the 3.5/4 star review from the Star Ledger unexpectedly burst the place at the seams), but be patient... because it's only a temporary thing, and the food is definitely worth the wait.

The menu is quite varied and usually has something that anyone can enjoy to the fullest... your mouth will love you for the rest of your life ! After eleven years, the food and relaxed atmosphere gives us all the more reason to travel down from Wayne every weekend.

Thanks for the compliments. I've been in contact with nj.com since I can't find it there MYSELF! Hopefully they will get that corrected. However, it was in the February 26 issue of the Star-Ledger. I know that the Maplewood Lions got an electronic version, and posted it on their "Great Chefs Night" website. Here's the link for that: http://www.maplewoodlions.org/terra_2006.htm

are you going to get a website?, Iknow you change the menu often, it would just be great to get a preview before i get there so i can choose an appropriate wine or beer. I've found that depending on the season some of your food does go well with beer.

Stubelou,

Well, I've joked with people for some time now that it was on my laptop 80% finished. Here it is in 'testing mode"

www.p7.hostingprod.com/@restaurant-terra.com

There's a domain issue right now, but as soon as it's sorted out, you'll be able to find us at www.restaurant-terra.com

You might have to copy that first link and paste it into your browser, as the Bulletin Board doesn't seem to like '@' in the link!

Finally got to Terra last night!
We had a very enjoyable meal. All 4 of us really liked the main courses. One dining companion was a bit disappointed with his beet and apple salad appetizer, but everyone was happy all around. I found the menu to be extensive and wide-ranging enough to make it hard to choose !

The service was great, the food delicious. we'll definitely be back!
