Our regular Sushi joint is Zen in Livingston, right by the circle on RT 10 (same complex as the grocery store + Olive Garden). BYOB. http://www.zensushi.net/ I've also had good experiences at Nikko, on RT 10 in Whippany - if I remember right they're a little more pricey than Zen. Jason |

The one the Sopranos eat in is Nori on Bloomfield Avenue in Caldwell. We've been going there for years and think it's one of the best around here. They have especially good and innovative rolls. |

I like Nikko on Rt 10 also. My latest favorite is Ariyoshi in South Orange. Love the Fantastic roll (mixture of salmon, yellow tail and tuna with great dipping sauce) and the Cancun roll (special version of spicy tuna). Yum! |

Had a great meal at Ariyoshi Friday evening. Sushi and broiled eel were delicious, and service was friendly and efficient. Even found a parking space directly across the street.

Is Nori in Caldwell super expensive or just normal sushi expensive? |

I have been to Nori once before, and don't recall them being too expensive. |

Hmmm.... according to this link it's Nori Sushi in Wayne, not Nori Japanese in Caldwell. http://www.baristanet.com/food/2006/04/sushi_is_the_ne.html Either way, we're trying Caldwell's Nori tonight. Sounds like some of you are fans regardless! |

For Mother's Day we made the journey to Tomo's new place in Little Falls. For those who don't know, Tomo used to own a little place on SO Ave across from Rite Aid, where Sakana (or whatever it is now) is. He had a cult following, and up and eft for Japan. It was our second time there. The sushi is unbelievable. In my husband's sashimi plate, he was given: monkfish liver, clams, sea urchin, and lots of other less typical delicacies. Fin, the waitress, remembers what you like (for instance, she knew I didn't like sea urchin but I said I'd try it again. ANd I didn't particularly care for it so I gave it to my hsuband.) If you are down on Rt. 23 or 46 near the Willowbrook MAll, stop in. You will not be disappointed. I know it's not close, but it's a real treat when you get there! FWIW, we found the selection to be better than that at Blue Ribbon Sushi for 1/4 the price. |
