Just wondering what people's go-to places are for picking up a dessert (or something similar) to bring along when you've been invited to someone's house for dinner.

FOOOD would be perfect for this type of thing, but they're not open on the weekend, and it's usually Saturday afternoons (like right now) when i need to do it. My default place has become Edith Cafe (or whatever the place is in Maplewood village that used to be Cafe Sage), but i'd like to branch out a bit. Do Sonny Amsters or Kate & Abby's have anything that doesn't scream out bakery cookies? The Dancing Goat? Any other hidden dessert gems out there? Obviously, driving to places such as Montclair, etc. isnt' ideal.

Try Crane's in Maplewood Village, (Besides Kims nail salon) I was in there earlier and they had GREAT bread and butter pudding, brioche, danishes etc etc....

Of course I couldn't leave without buying some...
