Any suggestions for a weekend away? It doesn't have to be in driving distance, but we also can't fly across the country since we are only talking about a weekend, probably Friday (take the day off of work) through Sunday. Thanks for any ideas.

What time of year?

Cape May, NJ.

Lots of really great B&B's and restaurants, plenty to do and see. Hubby and I just stayed here recently and really, really liked it: www.congresshall.com Really, really cool, redone historic hotel. Apparently renovated by a couple of guys from South Beach. Has a certain hipness to it. The best part: the most amazing beds I have ever slept in.

We also love: www.mainstayinn.com. Very romantic, beautiful, spectacular victorian B&B.

Another place I like in an opposite direction: www.thesettlersinn.com A stunning Arts & Crafts style hotel (or maybe a B&B). If you're looking for quiet, relaxed atmosphere, this would be the place. Maybe not as much to do in the area as Cape May, but pretty nonetheless. About 2 hours from here.

Another thought, lots of lovely accomodations in Lancaster County--Pennsylvania Dutch Country. Although we didn't stay there, this one certainly caught my eye and I would love to give a try someday: www.netherlandsinn.com It's located in Strasburg which has a very charming looking downtown, and of course it's surrounded by beautiful farm country--Amish and otherwise (and outlet shopping).

If you're into a Spa thing we absolutely loved the Copperhood Inn, not far from Woodstock NY. Luxurious accommodations (we had a duplex suite), excellent food, hiking, yoga, great spa treatments and a wonderful way to reconnect. It was perfect in every way!
