Looking for suggestions for Saturday-night dinner in Westfield, for six of us (including two restaurant-savvy kids). Mexican is out, steak is out, so is old-school Italian. Some restaurants that have piqued my web-browsing interest are Novita, Aquaviva, Fujiyama Mama, La Spezia, and Northside Trattoria, though I really know nothing about any of them. Probably not interested in Chez Catherine, if I'm right in assuming it's saucy French. Somewhere that takes reservations is preferable, as it'll already be on the late side for the kids.

Thanks!

a few minutes down the road in Kenilworth is Les Rendevous...French Mediterranean..as an alternative.

janeste - I didn't love Chez catherine. Thought it overrated. Went to an italian restaurant off the main drag in Westfield called Novita. Had a great meal! We have friends who go there often, it's one of their favorite restaurants

can't find a website, but dug this up:

Thanks, both of you. I had made a reservation at Acquaviva, just to be sure I had something, but I think I'll switch it to Novita, as it sounds a little more relaxed. I'll try the Kenilworth place another time. Just need something close by to an acting recital in Westfield, as it'll be late enough for the kids as it is.

MOJAVE GRILL. It's southwestern, NOT mexican and it is my favorite restaurant hands down in the entire area.

I'd definitely go to Mojave Grill, were it just the two of us, but I'm afraid that neither my parents nor my younger child would be up for it. I'll report back. . . .

Fujiyama Mama is the best sushi I've ever had.... EVER.
The service is fantastic, and they also have hibachi.
Try ordering a "The Bomb" roll.... it's easily the best roll of all time.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
