I'm looking for places to hang out at night BESIDES bars or diners. There seem to be very few places open past 10 weeknights or 11pm weekends. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'm willing to travel a fair distance, but NYC is a kind of out of the way, so I'd like something a little more local (Northern NJ). Thanks. |

There's a place in Union, on Morris Ave. but far back from the street. It's a good sized cafe - and I want to say it's called Van Gogh's Ear? I could be pulling that name out of the air but, if someone knows what I'm talking about, please help me out here. Anyway, it's a funky cafe with old furniture, dimly lit, with that "lived in" feeling that a lot of NYC cafe's have. I believe it's open until at least midnight most nights, and posssible later on weekends. Decent food and desserts too. |

Yes, it's called Van Gogh's Ear. It's on Morris near corner with Vaxhall. Great place. |

Maplewood's own Here's To The Arts tends to stay open till the wee hours. It is now officially a bar, but not a very bar atmosphere. |

Thanks for the suggestions! I'll definitely give these places a try. About V.O.R.O., aren't they were kind of pricey? |
