Yes, I know it's been covered before, but I'm a bit short on time for a search, so I'm asking for help.

Happy 9th anniversary to me, today. Hubby and I would like to go out this weekend, provided I can find a sitter and a reservation.

Although we really love Amanda's in Hoboken, perhaps it's time to try something new and different. We've done Terra and Cent'anni. Don't really want to try Verjus for this "ocassion."

I know there are a few places in Millburn, but don't know much about them. Basilico? Cafe Monet? Lilac?

Any others within 20 mintutes/half hour of Maplewood? Moderately priced (as in $150ish for dinner and wine for the two of us)?

Why not Verjus? To me it's the perfect spot for an anniversary dinner and it's in the price range you mentioned.

How about the Highlawn Pavilion? http://www.highlawn.com/
Great view, great food, Jocelyn's husband is the chef there.

I agree Lorena's is by far the best in the immediate area. There's also Serenade in Chatham and David Drake's in Rahway. Both very good but not as good as Lorena's.

Wow, that's funny, it's my nine year anniversary today as well...but I'll be eating dinner at home. Fortunately, though, I will be eating it with my wife!

Me what about Terre's? Nice, quite, romantic delicious food. Are you looking for something a little further away?

TomD, happy 9th anniversary to you too. Saturday May 17th was a wonderful day! Hubby's working tonight so we won't even eat together. Got to go to child #1's baseball game instead. But I did get some beautiful flowers.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Red, we've done Terra (when it was American Fare), so would like to try something new. Have also done Lorena's (when it was Jocelyn's). I know, different owners, but still the same space and location. Just looking for something new and different. Highlawn Pavilion might be just the place. Been kind of wanting to go there for years. I remember looking at it as one of the possible places to have my reception 9 years ago! That, and Pleasantdale Chateau, which is spectacular, and spectacularly expensive!

Ryan, don't know anything about Cucharamamma, although it seems people like it. Is it someplace you would consider elegant and romantic?

Would you be up for going into the city? I went to a great restaurant last year for my bday, I can't remember the name of it, but Hank knows. Fantastic food, great atmosphere...

SoOrLady, just wanted to say thanks for reminding me about Highlawn Pavillion. Went there for a wonderful dinner, on a wonderful evening with a spectacular view on Saturday. Had always wanted to try it. The price was right where I wanted to be, the food was scrumptious, service was impeccable, atmosphere was elegant. Basically, it was everything I was looking for.
