I've never been, but I've heard great things about the Ironbound and other parts of town....for a first timer, where is the best restaurant to take my wife on a date in Newark?

Loved Tony Da Caneca, more quiet and better service than most other places we've been.

Another vote for Casa Vasca----as you can tell, however, you're going to get a variety of restaurants b/c there a lot of great ones, esp. considering what you get for the price.

Another vote for Casa Vasca.

Don't be put off by the size. The seating is intimate. The service is incredible and the food is fabulous. My husband is a hearty eater and he usually brings home a doggy bag. The prices are extremely reasonable. Everything is fresh and there is a manned parking lot for diners of Casa Vasca. Lunchtime is just as nice as dinnertime.
