Noticed three newer restaurants on the waterfront in Hoboken - Quays, 40 Grill and Trinity. Has anyone been to any of the three for lunch? We're looking for a place to meet my aunt for a nice and relaxing birthday lunch during the week.

Thanks!

They are all outstanding. We used to live in Hoboken and at all of them. Quays is especially good for dinner.

If you are not completely into atmosphere, the food at La Isla on Washington is amazing too. Recently listed as a top 20 eatery in entire state. Cheap too. My friend doesn't like it because he's a fancy boy now, but it is phenomenal.

Thanks- that's good news.
We just had lunch at La Isla today... it is one of my favorite places anywhere. And I actually like the atmosphere. Problem is there are 6 of us, including 2 little kids, and La Isla doesn't really accomodate more than four. We thought waterfront would be nice, I just didn't know if the places were any good. We moved out of Hoboken 7 years ago, and those places weren't there back then. The outdoor tables were filled today, but it was so beautiful I didn't know if that was luring people in.

We were back in Hoboken today too and noticed the same thing. Considering how empty the town was, I think it was a good sign that those waterfront places were crowded.

What did you have at La Isla? I'm jealous. We were with our little one in a stroller, and the sign said no strollers, so we couldn't go in.

We were there right at noon when they switch from b'fast to lunch menu. I had an omelet with maduros, white cheese and spinach. Oh, and an iced cafe con leche. Hubby had a papa rellena followed by cuban burger - don't know what was in that. Our four-year-old likes chicken empanadas and the yellow rice with peas.

I think they've been pretty strict about strollers the past few years. They really just don't have room. But they do have high chairs if yours is old enough for one. I don't sense that they love having kids in there, esp. when it's busy, but they do give out plastic spoons and cups with tops on them - so they certainly are willing to accomodate.

I was at Trinity last year about this time for a late lunch (2pm). We had great food, service and drinks. There were about 6 of us and we sat outside. It was a Friday, so there was not a wait/line. Enjoy!

I work right down the street from those three restaurants, and all of them are fantastic. Trinity is great for lunch, The Quays has a phenomenal brunch, and the 3 Forty Grill has a yummy menu and martini list. Trinity has great sandwiches and salads - I recommend the blackened salmon wrap.

I work right down the street from those three restaurants, too. (spol - we may even work for the same company!) I've only tried Trinity and 3 Forty Grill, both great.
