I just came home from college and miss the local thai takeout. Is there any place nearby that will deliver? Thanks in advance.

Ginger Taste in Milburn delivers to Maplewood. Their pad thai is actually extremely good,

Ginger Taste delivers to South Orange, too--they just came to our door tonight. Mmmmm...

I still stand tall for Morris Thai, they are darn good and cheap. I've tried Ginger, and the place in Springfield, Morris still rules in my world.

I second (actually I third) Ginger Taste - They're veggie friendly (I'm a vegetarian) and I love everything they've got...

Ginger Taste - 271 Millburn Ave - (973) 218-9388

Where were you in school? I always get great Thai in NY. My favorite place is on Ave A.

Oh, and GT is kind of pan-asian - they're not Thai through and through. They rock, though.

Holy Thai!! john, you know good Thai! My hats off to you. Morris Thai is incredible. The Penang Curry w Chicken is the best I've had. We just moved out here from the city last August and have fairly high standards when it comes to Thai. My wife and I both agreed that it was well worth the trek over to Morris Avenue. We contemplated going to Ginger Taste, but flugermongers comment that it was Thai through and through made me check out Morris Thai and I'm glad i did. In all fairness, I don't think I would order the spring rolls again, as they weren't crispy enough for my taste, but the Penang Curry was other worldly.

Khun Thai on Millburn Ave in Millburn is pricey but their food is very good. They also don't deliver.

Even though Khun Thai doesn't deliver, you can do pickup. Probably more expensive than Ginger Taste though.

I tried Morris Thai last week and thought it was very good. I'll be back, but my favorite is still Thai Thai out in Stirling. Yum!

Locally, Morris Thai is definitely the best traditional Thai food I've had. If you're in the neighborhood of GSP exit 135 in Clark, there's an excellent Thai restaurant right on Central Ave. It's called Thailand Restaurant, and it's in a building that used to be a diner. I've been very happy with everything I've ordered, and if you like your Thai food spicy, they will accommodate. They're only open for dinner Tues-Sun, with Saturday being the only day they're open from lunch through dinner. They also are closed for vacation next week (July 3-10), but I thought I'd post the information anyway, in case anyone is inclined to give it a try.

GSP, I've eaten at that one and agree that it is good. There is also a new Thai restaurant in Westfield that I enjoyed. Can't remember the name at the moment, though.

i tried Ginger Taste and it was ok. I was a bit disappointed. But I will now check out Morris Thai after the glowing recommendations.

Flueger- i was in school in PA which i wouldn't think was known as having good thai but i loved the local place.

Another shout-out for Morris Thai.

However, if you're going to trek to Montclair, I have to throw in the usual recommendations for Thai Chef and Tuptim. Really good, both of them.

Thanks for the kind words Ibeme, I don't post much on this board but I usually have to respond to Thai or pizza posts. The other 2 times I responded with a favorable reco to Morris Thai I was shouted down by the legions of Ginger Taste followers. Many People also like Pan Naing (?sp) in Springfield. The issue I have with both of those places is they aren't THAI food. They both are fusion. I lived for years in California where nary an asian cusine mixed, on this coast it is all mixed up. You won't find a place selling sweet & sour and sushi in Northern Cali. That kind of blending seems only reserved for this coast. Long and short the other places are fine but they are not "real" Thai so that's why I like Morris. Honorable mention to Thai Thai out in Sterling for also having pretty good food.

"Honorable mention to Thai Thai out in Sterling for also having pretty good food."

Ahh, that's where we have to differ. Morris Thai is good, but I think Thai Thai is much better. It's great to have so many choices!
