Has anyone tried Nunzio's Grill on Springfield Ave? Its down a bit from the Dunkin Donuts, same side, going toward Vauxhall Road. Thanks ahead of time for any input.

Yes, it's friendly, efficient, and cheap. However, like all the local Portuguese, Brazilian, Spanish, and Argentinian b-b-qs, it does tend to oversalt stuff. So if you are supposed to watch your salt intake...

I find their food better than Burnet Barbeque's, for what it's worth.

I love this place. One of the hidden gems. Much, much better than Burnet (though the "eat in" atmosphere is nothing special.) The food is fantastic, the portions beyond gigantic, the people who work there incredibly friendly.

Plus just hanging out waiting for your order is heavenly, inhaling all that grill goodness......

If it's your first time, definitely don't order a "whole" order of anything, unless you're sharing.

Thanks all very much. I've driven past a number of times and always thought of stopping in. I guess I must give it a try!

Yum! Their black beans are the best I've ever had that we didn't make at home. Watching those chickens roast is mesmerizing. I never considered eating in, tho. Strictly take-out.

We love their black beans too! Once we ordered them and they forgot to put them in the bag, and we were so sad, we could barely eat.

My advice is to go in and ask them what's good and what's an appropriate amount of food for your group. There's one particular steak dish that's supposed to be super-big, but you'd never know it by looking at the menu. Likewise, one order of picadinos (sp?) can feed at least 3 people.

Also, i think they used to deliver, but they stopped.

One thing: I wouldn't waste my time/money getting a burger there. I was feeling like a burger once & everyone else wanted chicken. It was dry & tasteless. It's the only bad experience I've ever had there.

Papaya - if they forgot the black beans, I'd be hysterical. I don't even eat any of the meat most of the time. Just the rice & beans.

I haven't even HAD these black beans you speak of...

Don't most things come with rice (about 12 pounds) and vegetables (ditto)?

I went there with the expectation that it was going to be better than Burnet BBQ. I didn't think it was. We had the chicken (same as BBBQ) and steak (tough and stringy). I was disappointed.

Ok, I guess I have to get over there sooner than later and try some black beans in addition to the BBQ!

A little better than BBBQ in my opinion, also offers good BBQ sauce with their food. If you ask for BBQ sauce in Burnett they give you hot sauce or ketchup.

I went to Nunzio's tonight for the first time. It was good. The ribs were a bit overdone, however the chicken was spot on. We tried the black beans based upon a few recomendations here and we were not disappointed. Thanks all for the input.
