OK my kitchen is out of commission, and I'm getting tired of pizza & Chinese. I need an emergency lunch recommendation - needs to be take-out as we need to take something home for hubby. He's still taking down the kitchen ceiling - some of my MOL pals know about my bathroom job, this is all part of it, and no I'm not discussing here. :-( It's been going on for two years and hopefully this is bringing us into the home stretch. So - where can I get something to eat for lunch today, and later dinner, that is relatively healthy, esp. NOT loaded in salt (all this take-out is making me swell up like a water balloon), local and tastes good? Recommend something good even if it doesn't fit all of those criteria - we're pretty desperate. But if it meets all (esp. the salt part) that'd be great. ;-) |

Crane's. Their food is wonderful. I had Whole Foods for dinner last night. It was "eh". |

A second for Cranes - great sandwiches and wholesome dinners. The Parkwood Diner is also quite good... and they deliver. |

Parkwood delivers? That's good to know. Mr CLK wanted diner food for lunch but I vetoed - maybe for dinner. I haven't tried Crane's yet either. Just ran out for sandwiches at WF after MATB posted - and it's OK, fairly standard turkey roll-up (but salty - ugh - I think I'm getting hyper-sensitized). I do my grocery shopping there but I don't think I've ever bought their prepared food before. Hubby isn't big on Mexican unfortunately. Hopefully, I can use the kitchen again by tomorrow, but if not I now have enough options to get us through another day. Thanks, guys - very helpful. |

Definitely try It's a Wrap. I avoided it for a long time due to the awful name (and a certain amount of wrap fatigue), but when I finally went in it instantly turned into one of my favorite places. Creative, healthy, great-tasting sandwiches, plus juices and smoothies. I also second (fourth?) Cranes and Carribean Cuisine. Both labors of love run by nice people who work really hard to serve high-quality food. You'll love your meal and feel good about taking your business there. Although I don't think CC meets your low-salt criteria. Have you tried sushi to go? Arioshi is my usual choice. Can't get much more healthy than that, and they'll probably give you the low-sodium soy sauce if you ask for it. |
