Has anyone used any of the commercial passport/visa services (online or other) that promise to have your travel papers ready in a really short time? Recommendations?

thanks!

Yes, I used one when I realized that I needed a new passport sooner than expected (missed the details on length of validity needed for the country I would be visiting on business).

Paid a hefty premium for fast service as a penalty for my "sins". My office travel department handled some of the logistics, so I can't fully speak to ease.

mjc:

I needed to get a fast renewal, and did not use the commercial services. I paid $60 for expedited service, and it was turned around and delivered by overnight mail in about a week.

Really, they are very, very fast.

For work I use http://www.cibt.com/cibt2005/home.aspx

If you need any kind of tricky visa and have a time crunch it's worth it but it can be very expensive.

We use them at the office. Very fasy and efficient but you will pay for that. Several turnaround options are available, so you may be able to control costs a little.

Many thanks, all! The fire drill has been averted for this time, and having learned my lesson I will go out this week and start the (regular speed) process.

cheers -

I did a passport renewal & name change the usual way, back in mid April... had the new one back in about a week, and I didn't ask or pay for any rush service. Maybe I just caught them at a slow period?
