Well I've driven past it a number of times and wasn't expecting much, however I had a big surprise.

This evening we went to Minado, which is a Japanese Seafood and Sushi Buffet with a lot of other Japanese goodies. I didn't know what to expect when we walked in and sat down, other than to think the decor was quite nice for a buffet type place. After experiencing a number of great buffets out in Vegas (Belagio is still better than the Wynn) I didn't have my hopes up all that high. The place is rather large yet no table is not that far from the food.

Now, about the food. It was quite good. I tend to order from Samarai Sushi quite a bit and I think their sushi is good for the money. When I order for me and my girlfriend I usually get the sushi for two ($45) and a tempura appetizer ($8). You do the math including tax and tip.

Minado is $25 for an adult and all you can eat. The selection of sushi they had, along with countless rolls of every sort under the sun, was far above my expectations. Needless to say I had everything I get with Samurai, and much much more choice. They had a lot of sushi I never order and all the things I love. That allowed me to just eat what I like, which was mainly tuna and salmon. The rolls were great. Dragon rolls, Philly rolls, Crunchy tuna rolls, so many rolls! Of course they had the standard ones, but oh there were so many ones I always thought about trying and now I'm glad I did.

They also had some seafood, including a rather nice assortment of fresh oysters, that looked very good ( I didn't have any as I was in a sushi mood.) There was also an assortment of cooked japanese standard goodies that most people like (teryaki beef, chicken, etc.) and so many other dishes to choose from.

I started with some crab meat shumai dumplings which were very yummy. I also had a grilled shrimp appetizer which also was quite good. Then I went for all the shushi and yummy rolls.

I would definitely go back, and although I wasn't planning on writing a review I was just quite surprised by the experience we had. Its worth the trip.

They really don't have a kid's price unless your kids are under 5 I believe.

Is this the place out in Parsippany or something?

My husband and I went not too long after they opened, probably three years ago, and were very disappointed. I remember the bill being more expensive than you're saying, I think it was $40pp. I remember trying a lot of things and feeling not too thrilled with most of it, plus it's hard to eat at a buffet and not force yourself to try everything because it's there.

Maybe it's improved, or at least the lower price is more of a decent value for people who don't eat trunkloads of food.
