Anyone know of a good hotel in the area (no more than an hour away) that is especially good for a weekend or weeknight getaway? My mom said she'd come babysit overnight.

The Short Hills Hilton is actually very, very nice, if you're willing to spend some $$. Great rooms, excellent restaurants, beautiful indoor pool/spa. All about 15 minutes away.

Book through the Internet at the Hilton's Web site, and you'll save a significant amount.

Someone recently mentioned the Bernard's Inn in Bernardsville...it's supposed to be a great restaurant as well.

New Hope is very charming. There is the Lambertville in in Lambertville which is a 5 minute walk across the bridge to New Hope.

To me, nothing is more romantic than an Ian Schrager hotel room in NYC.

second New Hope or Lamberstville. It may be a little over an hour, but it is worth it.

Boomie, someday they may say this about all the Bed and Breakfast's in Maplewood... Hey, you never know!

Mohonk mountain house. Said it dozens of times here before. Yes, slightly more than an hour, but an experience unlike any other place in the area.

Woolverton Inn in Stockton. I haven't heard a single complaint. Verrrrry romantic. Great food. Not cheap. Look at their website.
