Large (or small) and inexpensive cakes: Costco, Pathmark.

Really nice large cakes and "cupcake" cakes: Shoprite in Livingston.

Yummy, delicious, to-die-for small death by chocolate cakes: Cait and Abby's.

I've also heard great things about the cakes from Food of Our Own Design on Springfield Avenue in Maplewood.

Happy birthday to your son! We got our 2nd year birthday cake at Shoprite. They have dozens of "themed" cakes to chose from which the kids really enjoy. "Back then" it was not really expensive and the cake was suprisingly very good.

Once again I'll brag....Judy's cakes are now at New World Catering in Maplewood.
They take special orders as well.

Costco is great if you need bulk... the sheet cakes are only like $15 and feed something like 36 people. We used to get them for our music ensembles when I was teaching orchestra.

If you want delicious, I enthusiastically second Me&'s suggestion of Cait and Abby's. I'm partial to the strawberry shortcake.
