A friend of mine, who is food paranoid, is in town for business and would like to go to a good, casual (jeans) restaurant that serves organic foods/meats---tomorrow night. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. She's staying at Washington Square Hotel, so downtown would be helpful, but not absolutely necessary.

Gobo is a good vegetarian restaurant that's pretty close to there (6th and Waverly). Don't know if their produce is definitely organic, though.

Spring Street Natural Foods would fit the bill perfectly. It's been there forever. www.springstreetnatural.com.

I SECOND Angelica's Kitchen. My rule, if anything sound appealling to you on the special's menu GET IT. They are always good. If not, get a Wee Dragon Bargain (and carrot ginger dressing) with ANGELICA'S CORNBREAD with miso tahini dressing. Sounds boring as hell but I leave there feeling like a million bucks. Totally tasty and a bargain. I've taken carnivores to this place (they came begrudgingly) and left RAVING about their meal. Go. Go. Go.

I've taken hordes of people to Gobo too. Very good meals there too.

I like Josie's too. There's a 2nd location near Grand Central.
