patmich,

Church's in Vauxhall is not the chain but a family owned/run place where the people are as nice as the food is good. The chicken is made to order, not sitting out there under those fried chicken tanning lamps. The sides are very good. Its a business you really are happy to patronize.

Dear All- Last Wednesday night, based on another thread on this board, I went to Pathmark at about 6PM to get chicken to take to the concert in the park in S.O. I cannot tell you how good it was....Mr. BGS commented that these were real pieces of chicken that you could distinguish. (As opposed to some places where the thigh has a lot of back and not much meat and the breasts also have alot of back and not much white meat etc.) The chicken was moist, cooked properly done and so reasonable I could not believe it. We also bought some creamy cole slaw to go with the chicken and while it was not what I make or Mama makes, it was not the sweet slippery mess that you would expect from a place other than Kings or Wegmans.
This is not to take anything away from Church's but I have to tell you, there was a line at Pathmark and every person wanted the chicken.

Church's is great. I love their peach cobbler and their potato salad is the real southern type like I grew up on. Chicken if fantastic too.

I second the fried chicken at Pathmark. I know it is hard to believe, but it is really good. Only drawback is the wait, and then you have to wait on another line to checkout.

BGS- you've inspired me to do the same thing tonight! Off topic (sorry!) but do you know if it's okay to bring a VERY well-behaved dog to the concert?

For great tucker at excellent prices, I highly recommend Cluck-you on South Orange Avenue near Grove Park. Whenever I wander over there the guys are always friendly too, even when I ponder what kind of combo will satisfy.
