Yes I have, both before the fire and after. I love the fries and the limeade (and the hot dogs are good, too!). |

The article states it WAS in Verona. I'm guessing after the fire they must have rebuilt IN VERONA? I used to work in Verona (like 8 years ago), and I don't remember the place. |

It's on Bloomfield Ave about 100 yards west of the Prospect Ave intersection on the righthand side. In a mini strip mall across from Miele's. |

I happen to love hot dogs, but have never had one that was deep fried...are they greasy? |

my son and I went a couple of weeks ago..he's a hot dog lover. They were very good...he said even better than Syd's. The dogs are a little over the top (an interesting array of topping choices), but so what? The fries were really good too. The kids like the little hot dog keychains they gave out. Josh's directions are spot-on...its easy to get to. |

Hey Alley - I worked in Verona "like 8 years ago" as well....on the border of Montclair.

They rebuilt in the same location. Actually, the deep frying simply crisps the natural casing, and the dogs don't absorb much fat at all... I'm going today for lunch! -s. |

I worked in Verona proper, across from the park, next to the pizzeria and Rite Aid (it was some drug store). I lived in NYC at the time and the reverse commute bugged the sh*t out of me. I can't believe I lasted there for 3 years. |

They weren't in Verona 8 yrs ago. They just opened in mid-Jan 2006, then about 6 weeks later (Feb 25 or so) , an electrical fire damaged the store. They re-did the entire place, correcting some design flaws, and re-opened on May 1. |

How are the prices at Amazing Hot Dogs? I'd have to feed 5 on a budget. I saw that Hank says they're "over the top", but does that mean pricey or does it mean overdressed? Are we talking dog and fries and drink for 5.50, 7.50 or more like 9-10.50? My kids are dog nuts, so if this can fit in the budget, I'd love to go. |

The only place for Hotdogs is Rutt's Hut in Clifton. Final word. Stop fooling around. If you want pineapples on your hotdog, please keep your distance. Eat them their way or get out. http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=1362 |

This may seem like quibbling, but Rutt's (excellent) hot dogs are beef&pork, while AHD's are all beef. -s. |

Joe R. I agree with you regarding the dogs at Rutt's Hut but this is a different experience I believe. Many people who have not grown up with Rutt's Hut can deal with the "atmosphere" there.

BGS: Atmosphere? What atmosphere? I'd say AHD must have about 90% less of it than a Horn & Hardart, let alone Rutts... The dogs are different, and the places are from different eras... If this was anyplace besides Jersey, they might not even be legit competition for each other geographically. Anyhow, as they used to say at the H&H (Automat, not Bagelry), "You can't eat ambiance!" -s. |
