To our loyal customers, friends, and neighbors, Freeman’s Fish Market will be closing…..….temporarily, for 11 days starting Monday August 7th and re-opening on Thursday August 17th. During this period our Poolside locations will continue to serve you, we will be able to continue to provide the freshest seafood to our wholesale customers who operate restaurants, caterers, and university cafeterias, and we will, of course, live up to our catering commitments. I have provided more details below. If you have any special needs during this timeframe please contact John via cell phone at 862-216-2425 or john@freemansfishmarket.com - and we will try to accommodate you. It has been over 17 years since Freeman’s Fish Market became a fixture in Maplewood. Since its inception Freeman’s Fish Markets mission has been to provide the freshest variety of seafood at a fair price. During this time the store has taken a beating – with only small scale improvements, usually on an as-needed basis. Interestingly, the store has been closed only 4 days each year for 17 years, with an average day resulting in over a 100 customers visiting the store. The store is tired and achy. Therefore, we decided it is time to renew and refresh the space which will enable us to ensure that we can achieve our high standards for years to come. To complete the work properly we need to close the retail market. We considered keeping it open, but decided we could not guarantee our desired level of quality and service while the work was being completed. While this may cause an inconvenience we hope you accept it as our commitment to keep Freeman’s Fish Market as a vibrant cotributor to our wonderful community for years to come. So what will we be doing? •Replacing the support beams under the store to ensure stability. Years of use and water have resulted in the need to do this important work. •Replacing the walk-in cooler in the rear of the store. This is where our fresh fish is stored during the day. The current refrigerator is maintaining the necessary temperature to keep our fish fresh, but just barely. •Refurbishing the lobster tanks. The tanks have a constant coat of salt water which rusts the support beams. When completed the tanks will be like new, much easier to clean, will be better for our live lobsters…and will be child friendly, as we have many little visitors to see the lobsters each day. •Providing more space for an expanded variety of "Jersey Fresh" produce and products to complement your seafood oriented recipes. •Repainting the interior of the store to create a fresher, more inviting space. •Replacing some of our current lighting to provide improved illumination that will enable you to see, even more easily, the freshness of Freeman’s fish. It is a lot of work that we believe is vital to maintaining our mission and being an asset to the local community. If you have any questions or suggestions regarding the store please feel free to contact me on my cell phone at 862-216-2425 or via email at john@freemansfishmarket.com. |

H and J- thanks for all you do to make our community a better place and for keeping the store up to date. I, too, hope that you will be able to get in a little rest during the closing. BGS |

Have you guys ever given any thought of opening a restaurant? It'd be so great to be able to get all that yummy food you serve at the pool year round! Good luck with the renovations. |

Thanks so much for your good wishes!! What started out to be some boring structural work (much like getting a new furnace in your home) has turned out to be a fun "facelift" for the store! And maybe - just maybe - we'll get a few days of R&R out of the deal too!! Again - thanks sooooo much for your support!!
