Congress hall. Not a bed and breakfast but sort of has that feel. Like a boutique hotel with luxurious bedding and cute bathrooms. Some have beautiful view to sea. Nice pool, excellent service, great bar downstairs (Boiler Room). |

The Star Inn http://www.thestarinn.net/ Used to be The Perry Stree Inn and my aunt owned it for years - sold it it just a few years ago. The folks who own Congress Hall, which is accross the street, bought it and changed the name to the Star Inn. I must say, they've done a nice job renovating and upgrading the place. What's nice about it, besides the fact that it's about a block from the beach and it's lovely to sit on the porch and watch the water, is that they have three different types of rooms. They have the house, which is a tradiitonal B&B, then there's the motel adjacent, which has more modern rooms with kitchenettes, and what they now call the carriage house has bigger, modern "apartments" that are great for a whole family to share. The "mall" with all the shops and restaurants, is right around the corner. |

The Virginia Hotel - its an inn so not quite the B&B but still small, has a great restaurant downstairs (the Ebbit Room), great location, nice front porch to lounge on, etc. Highly recommend |

Kids or no kids? We've been spending a week in Cape May the last six or seven years with our son and we've sampled a few of the B&B's - ours, however, are limited to those who allow children. We've stayed at the Carrol Villa Inn on Jackson street a few times although its slipped in recent years. The restaurant, The Mad Batter, is very good for breakfast and its very conveniently located about a half a block from the beach. Twice we stayed in a smaller room upstairs from the restaurant and once we stayed in a room on the ground floor facing Jackson St. It had a little veranda that you could sit on and watch people walk by. That room had terrible air conditioning so we didn't enjoy it. We've stayed at the Gingerbread house, known as one of the seven sisters, it is in a line of Victorian Houses on Gurney St. It is less than a block away from the beach and centrally located. The owners are very nice and friendly and the rooms that we stayed in were nicely decorated and clean. I think most of the bathrooms were recently re done. They provide wireless access and have TVs in their rooms. For the last two years we've stayed at the Victorian Lace Inn on Stockton St. Again, very conveniently located just a block off the beach. Last year we stayed in their one bedroom Condo located across the street from the main house and enjoyed it very much. It was spacious and clean and included a little kitchen, washer and dryer and many other amenities. This year we stayed in their Bantry Cottage and weren't as happy. The Cottage is a two story structure that sits behind the main house. It has a large living room/kitchen area downstairs and one bedroom and a bathroom upstairs. There were lots of little ants running around downstairs and the decor definitely needs to be updated. All in all we love cape may. While we haven't stayed in the other places mentioned we've been there enough times to know that they are very nice places. The Virginia Hotel is right next door to the Carrol Villa Inn and we ventured to Congress Hall for the first time this past summer. Congress hall recently underwent a huge renovation and it looks very nice. Enjoy your trip. Lots of great restaurants and things to do with none of the usual honky tonk that you get at some of the shore towns. |

I second Peter Shields. Comfortable rooms, decent food and nice tea time too. |
