This may be pathetic, but it is quickly becoming my pet peeve to go out to eat and order a diet coke or pepsi, don't care which, and get something that tastes like aspirin!! I then say "This is diet RC, isn't it?" and it invariably is!! I'm sure it's cheaper but it SUCKS! For you coffee people it would be like craving good coffee with your meal and getting instant Sanka! Hope it's not a trend....

I know exactly what you're talking about. In Hoboken, it seems that every restaurant uses Diet Rite instead of Diet Coke.....and if I had known beforehand I would just get water. I can't stand the aftertaste! Of course, I don't even like Diet Pepsi very much, so I wish they would tell you which specific brand it is when you order a "Diet Coke". It's not a generic term!!
