I went to Moonstruck this past Saturday night and it was excellent. The first Saturday of every month all the shops are open late and have free drinks and pickers on the sidewalk. I had Morracan scallops at Moonstruck and they were out of this world. If you are looking for a special dinner try Moonstruck. They do not accept reservations and the wait on a Friday or Saturday night is usually about 2 hours. It is worth the wait.Asbury is going thru a major development right now, with lots of upscale resturants, shops, nightclubs and housing.

Millie,

Moonstruck is owned by a South Orange native (Luke Magliaro) and his partner. We had dinner down there in the spring and it was excellent and a cool looking place. The new space in Asbury Park (they were formally in a smaller place in Ocean Grove for a number of years) was a former dive/club but they did a really nice job with it. Id have to say it was one of the better meals Ive had down the shore because it really isnt a shore restaurant oriented to the summer season but a really good year round facility.

I think Moonstuck is the best restaurant on the north Jersey shore. I consider north Jersey to be from Seaside to Seabright.

I checked out a few websites regarding the redevelopment of Asbury Park, and the information is pretty outdated. What is actually happening now?

Basically Popo there are tons of new condos being built.Pre construction started at 450,000 and are now selling for about 550,000. New stores and resturants are all around. The boardwalk was redone this past year.I was reading in the paper a few days ago that alot of people from NYC are buying there and redoing the houses. Hopefully with all these improvements the town will be once again be a great and safe place to vacation.

One of my girls went to the beach at AP last week because it was so crowded in Avon and she was surprised that the beaches there were so empty. She said that there was front row parking at the beach at 10:30AM and commented on how clean the beach was and uncrowded it was. She also said that it is really neat watching the clean up going on there.

Crime is still a major problem in AP , there have been at least 6 murders this summer alone , I don't think the APPD is up to the task . The folks who trailblazed this town are not to thrilled with the planned development. Shep Pettibone & the boys @ the Empress don't see themselves as part of the future there. The past 2 attempts to revitalize this area cashed & burned with a faltering housing mkt.. I have been stopped twice this summer driving thru AP with the top down in the night time , both times I was told to put the top up get out of AP before they carjack this thing just for fun.The APPD are trying to stop bike traffic on the Bwalk , for many people it's the only way they enter AP.

"The folks who trailblazed this town are not to thrilled with the planned development. Shep- why do you think that is?
...and are the folks who trailblazed this town even alive?
...and one more thing...is your glass half full or half empty????
Just curious...
