After a few trips to Costco, I noticed that Rio 22, the all u can eat sushi and Brazillian BBQ place, opened up. Has anyone tried it out. If so, how was it? |

I went to Rio 22 about 2 weekends ago. Compared to the Brazilian restaurants in Newark, the rodizio is expensive ($27 I think) and the salad bar selection was not that great. I noticed some other people ordered off the menu and the portions appeared to be reasonable and looked good. The sushi (spicy tuna and crunchy crab meat) was excellent! NOTE: the sushi is not included in the all you eat part. I found a nice selection of drinks on the menu and they were pretty strong. I would recommend it for sushi only. Although the meats in the rodizio was good, its not worth it to me unless they come down on the price.

Dos centavos - just curious, have you been to Churrascaria Plataforma in NYC? The price there is more like $45-50/person, so if it's comparable, this actually sounds like a good deal. (I know some places in Newark are likely cheaper, but the atmosphere may be different.) Just wondering how Rio 22 it compares in size, quality, etc. to CP. |

Papayagirl - Yes, I have been to Churrascaria Plataforma in NYC. That’s a great place for rodizio as well, but as you mentioned a little on the more expensive side. The hostess, waitstaff, and décor (great date place) of the place were outstanding to me and on the same level as CP. Much better than the places in Newark which I think have good food and great prices. If CP is your point of reference, I would have to agree with you and say that it’s a good deal. |

$27 pp does seem expensive considerng you can drive another 15 minutes and go to Ironbound. It is $19 pp at Iberia and $20 pp at a few of the other places whose names escape me now. |

The best rodizio in NJ is Boi Na Brasa on Merchant St! They also make great caipirinhas. |

I enjoyed Rio 22. Bang for your buck, stick with with Newark. HOwever, I loved the music that they played, the three pounds I gained in one night, the eye candy, and the chance to order sushi as well. It was a different vibe, and due to the time of night, didn't have to deal with Newark parking. I also loved the drinks. Was rather expensive considering the prices charged in Newark. But for something different. Go ahead. |
