I've heard there is a train museum near by. I'd like to take my nephew who loves trains and is 4 years old. Anyone know where it is and if it's good for kids?

I went to the Whippany about 15 years ago. Pretty good then.

When you have time and when the kid gets older, go to the National Park Service Steamtown Museum in Scranton, Pa. --about 3 hours away. About two miles from Steamtown is the Lackawanna Coal Museum wherein you go down 900 ft. into a coal mine.

Ringoes, NJ in Hunterdon is quite serene and scenic. If you want true grit, you could try the train in Phillipsburg. Just some thoughts. Scranton is probably a bigger deal. Also, New Hope, PA has a lovely old steam train.

Whippany Route 10. About 5 min past Costco on the same side of the road as Costco.

It's a nice place to kill a few hours with a kid. Don't plan on staying too much beyond that. It's really a small collection of stationary trains that could be fun for a one-time visit. I don't think they have a working train you can board... although they do do it once a year around holidays I think.
