Just to follow up on the thread from a few weeks back - thanks again for all the recommendations for our trip to Paris. We just came back from the UK yesterday (and that journey was a real *fun* experience ;) and spent three days in Paris during the middle of last week. Some highlights - Attractions: Louvre was amazing - though we did not have a lot of time, just to walk around its incredible collections was a wonderful experience. - Hotel: After much research, we settled on Hotel D'Albe, which is just off St Michel Square. Great location (two minutes from Notre Dame), hotel was good (with great double glazed windows to keep the street noise out), room was reasonably sized (big enough to swing the proverbial cat!), and the price was right. - Food: Best dining experience was at a place called L'Ecurie, in the Latin Quarter. Run by the most charming lady, it has a 15E Prix Fixe menu featuring traditional French dishes. A complimentary aperitif and digestive helped round out the meal Best lunch was in the Luxembourg gardens, munching on a baguette, brie and ham procured from a local grocery store. So, all in all a great time. Hopefully the next time we go back we'll be able to check out a few more places that were recommended. Jason |
