Stay outta Freeport - it is ungodly. It is so touristy and the people, I found in the multiple trips I took when I lived in Florida, were not so nice.

Are you looking for a hotel? Diving (which you must do!)? I would seriously consider a Windjammer if I were going to go again.

Windjammer, that's the sailing ship, right? Nice. LOVE boats.

Since this is a short vaca, I don't want to spend tons of time flying around. Bahamas are close, but I don't even know whaer to start looking at the different islands. Ive never taken diving. Can one go out in a day?

YOu can get certified in a day, but I'd be wary. You can always snorkel - its fabulous there.

I like Exumas, Eleuthra and Bimini for snorkeling/diving. Exumas is quieter than most of the Bahamas. I like that. Avoid Nassau like the plague. I have never seen more drunken idiots in my life --- wait, I went to a convention in Las Vegas once, never mind.

Swim with the stingrays - that's so cool.
