nO PROBLEM!! I LOVE IT THERE! The rest. scene is so amazing there...There was on cafe in Phx. where I had Kobe beef burgers!! The most amazing taste, also @AZ88 I had some bacon type appetizer, the bacon was so out of this world- I had to ask where it came from-it comes fresh shipped from a farm in Wisconsin!(ca U believe that?!)Great quality!! Have fun! |

I stayed at the James when it was brand new (or newly renovated that is) a few years ago. AIt def. aspires to be hipper than I found it to be, though the pool area was swanky and supposedly has been visited by Paris and Nicole. Anyway, the hotel is right near "Old Scottsdale," which despite being very touristy is kinda fun for first-timers. Have you been to the area before? Also, right nearby is some GREAT shopping...particularly the Fashion Square Mall. The better restaurants are north of where you'll be if you have access to a car. Drive up Scottsdale Road. I think "Bloom" is in the 8000s and despite being one of a regional "chain," has yummy food. http://www.foxrestaurantconcepts.com/bloom.html For more casual dining, my personal favorite in the area is Oregano's, a pizza/Italian restaurant. Huge portions, great large menu and you have to get the half baked cookie for dessert. A must!!! One is right by you near Old Scottsdale. http://www.oreganos.com/locations.htm |

Back from the desert...(Paradise Valley)! I'll keep Maplewood. It's too darn HOT out there! I did go to AZ88 Friday wit some co-workers. You were right about the characters! A few TV's and lots of beautiful women, gay guys and hip straight people were jammed into the place. We had a short wait to get seated, and enjoyed a bottle of Merlot outdoors. The appetizers are great! We had the Bacon wrapped water chestnuts with radish and cucumber slices you dip into a honey sauce....Mmmm Mmmm.... We had 3 or 4 others too... Thanks again for the recomendation!

If you want something a little different...a mix of cowboys and bikers...check out Greasewood Flats. It's a divey outdoor bar in the middle of the desert...elevation is a few thousand feet, so it's usually cool at night. It's in North Scottsdale...off Happy Valley Road if I remember correctly.
