feedback has been pretty good here on MOL. I've been there a few times and enjoyed both the service and the food.

It has probably become the most popular restaurant in South Orange -- which isn't surprising, as it has about as good a location as you can get.

The place is packed pretty much every evening of the week. Food is good -- above average diner food. Service, however, is excellent. The new owner (who also owns the diner across from Home Depot) clearly knew what the complaints were about the old Blue Moon, and made it a priority to fix them.

The new diner, by the way, is called Village Diner. Give them a try.

I've been there close to a half dozen times. Really like the place. Food is great, service is great and they even let me order off the 'children's menu.' I just wish there was a 'children's menu' for breakfast.

We've eaten there a few times and have always been happy. Just came back from lunch - SoOrLord had a turkey club (real turkey) and I had a California Cobb Salad that was very delicious. Service has always been great. I think we finally have a winner!

Every time I've been to the Village Diner, it's been excellent, but Manny was there every time to oversee things. However, hubby was there one night when Manny was NOT there, he reported that the food and the service were very poor that evening. I'm hoping Manny gets the staff up to par so they are able to deliver quality without being baby sat.

We've been overall pleased with the Village Diner [four or five visits so far].

Have there been hiccups? Sure. The last time we were there we had a young waitress [most likely her first job] and she brought the meal out piecemeal, we had to ask for the side dishes that we included on the menu [literally just brought out a piece of chicken with nothing else], and then forgot about us... Nonetheless, we'll continue to support the diner [it's a whole hell of a lot better than the Blue Moon ever was] and hope that the service is better on our next visit.

It's a diner. Don't expect much. That said, I'd go there again.

We sat outside, which is great! But, there's a guy who sits across from the Cold Stone and smokes clove cigarettes. It's nauseating. What do you do?

It's also a great place to run into other MOLers and neighbors.

Had a very nice breakfast there with Jersey Boy and JB Jr. [Congrats btw on the "poop and run"].

SO Ref,

Thanks, I should have mentioned our improptu F2F breakfast. Now would you please stop smoking those clove cigarettes?

We have been there probably once a week since it opened for either a quick dinner or a weekend breakfast. Manny is wonderful and now knows us and our son and makes a point to stop by each table when he is there to see that everything is up to par. We have also been there when Manny is not there and the 'regular' wait staff seem to all be comfortable and the service is overall much better than normal diner wait staffs. We have been there when there have been an unhappy customer here and there but most seem to have been based on the new restaurant hiccups.

The food is above par for diner food and the wait staff is very accommodating to families and big parties. Definitely a winner.
