There is a place on Route 46 East in Parsipanny called Keo Ku Jang.

The best way to get there is to take 24 West to 287 North to 46 East. You go about 5 miles on 46 East. The restaurant is in a strip mall, and I think that it shares the mall with a billiards parlor. Just go on 46E and look for a sign for a billiards parlor, and you will also see the restaurant.

Standard Korean BBQ ... they serve liquor too.

Update: here are the particulars on the place:

Keo Ku Jang Japanese & Korean Restaurant
245 US Highway 46
Parsippany NJ 07054
973-244-0032

Rt. 46, ESPECIALLY toward Fort Lee has lots of good Korean food. I used to work in the area and had it all the time, but right now specific locations escape me. I bet if you do a google search for Fort Lee restaurants or "NJ Korean restaurants" you'd find plenty.

HOWEVER, for a quick fix closer to home, try Sakana Japanese - anybody know if it's still called that? It's in So. Orange on South Orange Ave. across for the Rite Aide. Anyway, they used to have bento boxes with Bulgogi and short ribs. The owners changed a while ago and I haven't been in a while, so call before you go.

Aside from Fort Lee which is a bit further a hike, Edison has a decent sized Korean community. There's a good Korean BBQ restaurant (forget the name) that's located right next to the Han Ah Reum Korean supermarket. It's about 30 min away going south on GSP and then taking exit 130 to US-1 (I think that's the exit). Anyhow, the address for the supermarket is:
518-14 Old Post Rd., Edison, NJ 08817
Again, the restaurant is right next to it. I've also seen other Korean restaurants in the area but haven't checked any of the others out.

Projects, we were just there this weekend, and we were happily surprised to see all of the Korean restaurants right there. As coincedence would have it, there is also a Penang right there. I love the Penang on rt. 10 in East Hanover and it's always good to know about about another location of somewhere you like.

Also for the record Google Maps told me that Old Post Road was under 20 minutes away from Maplewood and even with the obligitory weekend Mall traffic on Rt 1 it actually was about 20 minutes.

Alley,
That's the one! I've eaten at that Penang before as well and it's about the same as the one on Route 10 (both are also next to Kam Man chinese supermarkets), although the one in Edison seems older.
We were in the area as well this past weekend and actually found a great Vietnamese restaurant randomly after the line to get into my fav dim sum restaurant got too long.
You're right about number of options for Korean in that area. Edison seems to have a lot of very authentic ethnic enclaves and I've been very impressed. Easily has the best and most diverse Indian, Korean, Chinese and Vietnamese restaurants for an <30min drive.

I agree. I actually sort of >>gasp<< like Edison.

Palisades Park is closer than Fort Lee and has the widest selection of Korean restaurants in NJ.

Also, I believe there are a couple of Korean rests in Jersey City.
