Does anyone know of a place that sells tofu cream cheese around here? I was in the city yesterday and had a bagel at an old favorite place (Tal bagels) and had it with scallion tofu cream cheese - yum! I can't eat real cream cheese due to lactose intolerance, so this was a real treat and I was surprised how much like cream cheese it tasted. Thanks for any leads! |

Kings in Maplewood has it, too! It's called "Better than Cream Cheese" by Tofutti. It tastes really good. My son has a milk protein allergy so I use it all the time to make him cheesecake that he can eat. They also sell tofu sour cream. Enjoy! |

We get that in our supermarkets!! Isn't it yum? I thought it was Tofetti though - tofutti is the frozen dessert? Anyway in our supermarkets it's near the Philly cream cheese OR in the health foods fridge, depending on season. Red and green label on a flat round white tub? |

I'm looking at my tubs right now. The company is Tofutti and they make icecream, cream cheese, sour cream, and a bunch of other stuff. You can google them and see all their products online. Oh, I also love the icecream sandwhiches they make. I'm so thankful because my son can't eat any dairy so now he doesn't feel left out when his twin sister is eating icecream. The cream cheese tub is yellow, blue, and red. The sour cream tub is blue and red. If you're all looking for a milk free (and peanut free!) cake and cookie mixes, Whole Foods sells them. They're made by Cherry Moon Farms and they're fab. I take them to parties for my son and they're a hit. No one even knows they are allergy free! |

I wonder if there are licensing laws or something that makes a company change the labels and tub design for different countries? Probably are; there were so many regulations to stick to when I was proofreading product labels 10 years ago and it's only got stricter since then. Our tubs are white, and the company name is slightly different. Probably the same company at root, but known differently in Australia. Anyway - great product and I wish we had half the range that you do! |
