We're thinking of taking our first cruise in a few weeks. It will probably be to Bermuda, on Celebrity. Of course we have a gazillion(1 gaz=1,000 bazillion, right?)questions.
Our freind's niece, a travel agent, hasn't responded so we'll be on our own re: planning etc., that's why we're not booked yet.
First??? Has anyone booked thru Priceline recently? Any thoughts? Some people swear by them... others swear at them.
I plan to go to AAA with some ??? and to get other pertinent info.
Thanks for all comments you've made on other threads. It's been a great start and you've answered ??? I hadn't thought to ask.

Thanks Muchly

We just came back from a 9 day RC cruise. I would never book through Priceline (except for a basic hotel stay and maybe to compare rates). We booked through Costco and had a very pleasant experience. Pricing was basically the same from each place I called— RC doesn't discount for different vendors, though at various times pricing was better or worse across the board. Costco offered travel insurance at a big discount (we had 5 people) and we got a whole bunch of gift baskets...wine and cheese, chocolate strawberries, etc the first 2 days. A few people we met on the cruise got deeply discounted rates by using Travel Zoo and maybe another online merchant, but that would have been tricky for our family—we needed 2 cabins next to each other and I believe those deals come out when they want to fill various rooms.

As suggested last month, check out CruiseCritic.com for tips and suggestions. It helped me plan a few excursions and there's lots of specific info there.

I'd avoid Priceline. There is no support if anything goes wrong. My brother had horror stories when their flight was cancelled.

If you are going in a couple of weeks perhaps you can deal directly with Celebrity. Judging from the mailings I get from AAA they might be helpful as they seem to specialize in cruises.
