The one on Springfield Ave? I just drove by, and there was a big banner across the top with a Dasani logo that said "Grand Opening Churrasco." The strange pictures of various pieces of meat that were floating in the window weren't there either. If it closed, i can't say i'm surprised. The place was never very crowded. I'll also be a little sad though, because i really wanted them to do well. Let's hope the new incarnation will be even better!

I called there for takeout yesterday, and the (very nice) guy who answered the phone told me that they were closed and re-opening on Sept. 5th as the aforementioned Currasco. He described it as more of a steak house than the previous incarnation. Said they'd still have takeout. I certainly wish them well, and I'll give them a try. |

I could never understand why the Burnet-B-Q on Springfield Avenue never did well. The other two stores are always packed. |

Is it going to be one of those " for the price of a steak, eat a cow" places... with the guys coming around with 15 kinds of meat on various rotisseries? |

You mean like Fogo de Chao? Or some of the similar but smaller places in Newark? |

The only one I've been to around here is Greenfield Churrascaria, in Hackensack. I did go to "Brazilian Churrascaria" while in Singapore. though. |

I think the all you can eat type of places are called churrascarias (or rodizios). The sign for this place said churrasco, which is just a term for the way they grill the meat. Or i could be making all of that up. |

I have been to Burnett BBQ twice. Their steak is particularly flavorful imho. So if they are keeping the same management but going to a churrascaria format, sounds very promising. |

They certainly have the space for it if they are going to have the swords of meat, etc. I liked their food and the portions were enormous, but I felt strange when we sat in the dining room. We were usually one of two full tables in the place. It always felt empty and so a little strange. Not cozy and warm, even though the service was good. In the end, we preferred their take-out. So, I wish them well in the format change. I'm sure the food will still be very good. |

John, can you confirm if the restaurant will be a Brazilian style rodizio (churrascaria) or a Portuguese restaurant? |

Thank god they took down that bizarre floating dead pig decal from the front window. That was just weird. |

I don't know why but the food tastes much better at the Stuyvesant Ave location..but there's only little tables and not much ambiance there. When the one on SA opened we rushed over there to try it out...first time there was nearly a fist fight between a customer and waitress...they were screaming at each other and even took it "outside" to settle...manager or someone eventually calmed them down. Went back a second time and the service was sooo slow, couldn't understand simple English. My hubby and my girlfriend ordered Garlic chicken and said it wasn't all that flavorful. Never went back again. I'll be interested in seeing the new place.

I am not surprised they closed. Went there twice with my Luso-American husband. He was not impressed with the food and thought it only ok...he admits to being a Portuguese food purist, so the Brazilian influence does not sit well. Went a third time a few weeks ago (it was 9:00pm on a sunday and not much was open). They did not have the a/c running and it had to be 90 degrees in there. Sat for almost 15 minutes with no waiter in sight, we finally got up and left. Let's hope the new management is better than the old. |

I don't know why but the food tastes much better at the Stuyvesant Ave location.. DITTO Psychomom! For some reason the food at the Stuyvesant Ave location tasted a lot fresher and tastier than Springfield Ave. |
