Is there a local market which sells ingredients for Indian food recipes -- ghee, urid dal flour, chapati flour -- just found some recipes I want to try but don't know where to buy the ingredients?

I have heard that there are shops in Edison. That said, Wegman's seems to have a pretty nice international section.

Having pursued this myself, I think your best bet is to hit Edison or Jersey City. Neither is far and you'll get what you need. Post again for specifics if you decide to go; I'm going to Edison Monday for just the same sort of stuff.

We go regularly to Edison for our Indian groceries. It's a straight shot and not complicated at all to get there.

Take GSP South to Exit 131.
Hang a left at the light at the end of the ramp.
Go through one traffic light.
Make the next left (not a traffic light).
Make a left again at the first traffic light, which will put you on Oak Tree Road.

Go up Oak Tree Rd until you see a large Patel Groceries on your left. You can get all you want at Patel's.

Further up are restaurants like Mughal (Mughalai), Moksha (South Indian) and Ming (Indian-Chinese) in the Oak Tree shopping plaza, in case you decide to stay for lunch or dinner.
