Last week I asked for restaurant recommendations on MOL and we took one of them and went to Mompou in the Ironbound, which was terrific. Last night we tried the other recommended place, Blu ( thanks Soda!) It's a real stand-out! The food and the service were first rate - we went with another couple and shared everything we ordered, and there wasn't one dish that we didn't want to lick the plate (we restrained ourselves). One of the desserts was black olive cake with basil ice cream. It sounded more than a little weird, but we tried it. if you like the taste of olives, you'll love the cake, and the basil ice cream went wonderfully with it, along with a very intensely orange-flavored sauce. And if you don't, the chocolate terrine will do very nicely. If you're looking for a great dining experience, go to Blu! We tried it (because of the earlier recommendation, too!) and also loved it. Everything I had was delicious! |
