I guess it's still there. Went there for the first time a few months ago. We were underwhelmed. It wasn't bad, just not a standout for us.

I too was underwhelmed. It's a GREAT late-night option since it closes late, but it's a bit too expensive for regular everday meals. And I didn't perceive it as being a good bargain (price/quality/taste ration) for a nicer dinner. Hence we don't go.

My take on Voro: it's the sort of place where B&T people go when they're in NYC (expensive mediocre food, velvet ropes, etc). Maybe the owners thought they'd take the B&T place straight to the source, but M/SO is so far from that sensibility that it seems like a real miscalculation. But who knows, maybe they're doing well.

B&T? May I ask you to spell out that which you are trying to not spell out? There is no need to perplex the readers. Just a modicum of effort is needed.

I feel really stupid, but now that I know what B&T translates to....I still don't understand the concept.

Take pity on me and please explain what kind of person that describes.

Bridge and Tunnel - derogatory term used by NYC people to describe the "outsiders" that come in for the nightlife, and naturally possess lower standards:

Thank you.

Should have known it was something all those CSWDHAC people would use.

I think the terms B&T as well as BENNYS is outdated & no longer applies. The night clubs of NY are filled with B&Ts in fact they are filled with 17 to 24 yr old girls from the 'burbs & 26 to 35 yr old males that can afford $ 300.00 for a bottle of Absolute. As for the shore the Bennys ,all moved down there for good.

I still hear B&T but have no idea what a "Benny" is.

Well, OK, maybe I do. Or I thought I did. But it doesn't seem to apply to the 70s in this context.

Does Bennys refer to the notion that the only restaurant people in the burbs to to is Bennigans?

I've heard the term 'Benny,' one of the writers for the Ledger loves to use it. Never heard of 'T and B.' Maybe when SOPAC opens Voro's will do better.

We have gone there occasionally when we want to have mixed drinks with our dinner, and are treating ourselves -- we like its menu and attitude better than Papillon (which I'll admit to not having tried again in a while). If we are taking our own wine along (or not having alcohol), we have other choices that may be better at the fine dining price point (e.g. Arugula).

Last two times we were there, one was fairly crowded, and the other was a weeknight when downstairs was almost empty, but upstairs had a noisy private party.

I believe, unfortunately, that they got rid of the tapas menu, including some of the things that we liked (and that worked as surrogate kiddie meals).

I'd like to see them make it (I remember Giorgios, and am blown away by what they've done with the space...), but have to admit that we haven't been back in months.

Thanks for the info on Voro and some additional info regarding "B&T" and "Bennys". This forum is highly educational. Anyhow, my concern has been answered. Thanks again.

I went to Voro only because I was invited there for a party, and I HATED IT. Food was entirely too overpriced. I got a soup which tasted the same as the soup at a diner, there was hardly a cup of soup, and it was $10. The bread was crummy and like somethin out of a diner too. I didn't order an entree after that soup... but got dessert with my friends, which was just a chocolate fondue.. the only good part of the night, but it's hard to mess up cutting fruit and melting chocolaste. It was just a pretentious place, with nothing to back it up, except a GIGANTIC bill... insanity.
