Heading out to Vegas for 4 nights in August with extended family (need about 4 rooms).

Anyone have any info to report on some of the more common resorts.

We have already stayed at Excalibur and Bellagio, and will most likely be looking to stay toward the middle of the strip.

Alladdin, Paris, Treasure Island come to mind.

Anyone stayed at these places or recommend another?

Bellagio is really quite good, and rooms/atmosphere above the gaming floors = quite nice. Some of the other hotels (excalibur comes to mind as well as Paris) seem too compact and rooms seemed not well insulated and isolated from the ambient patter of the gaming areas.

I liked Imperial Palace- cheap, central and clean.
August will be hot so Mandalay Bay may be a better choice- the pool there is the best on the Strip.

I looooove TheHotel - the new complex at Mandalay Bay. Huge rooms - all suites_ - bigger than Venetian with flat screen tv's wet bars etc. I just booked a room for August for a trade show that I attend and rooms were around $200 (usually they are $3-400). It's very cool and no casino although it is attached to Mandalay Bay and you have access to all the pools at Mandalay Bay which are the greatest.

I wouldn't stay at Treasure Island or Alladin - Paris is ok.

If you use web travel sites you can only book at Orbitz I think.

Ditto on softparades Mandalay Bay post, but it's going to be packed . I would chip in with the family & get a cabana @ The Mirage $250.00 per day ,tent , TV , fruit bowl , chaise lounges , round table , chairs . All waiting for you when you get there. No getting up waiting in line to place your towel .

Ditto on Mandalay Bay. I love how they make the whole place smell like vanilla!

I enjoy the Aladdin. I avoid the Bellagio, I’m a pretty big gambler and find it ridiculous that when I’m betting $300 a hand on Black jack I’m still sitting out with the shmucks.

I like the fact that the Aladdin is surrounded by a mall, so you can take a walk around it to kill time away from the tables. The two pools are nice (sometimes they use 1 for special events) but they don’t come close to Mandalay bay’s pools. I love the location though, just a quick walk past Paris and Ballys and you’re in the heart of the strip, can’t beat the cheapy casinos.

The only downfall is that there isn’t a good breakfast place in the Aladdin. So you end up heading out in the morning, but Denny’s is close enough.

The rooms are nice, clean, and reasonable priced. For me it’s a good fit, but as I said before I go to Gamble.

I've enjoyed staying at the Bellagio, Paris, Monte Carlo, Aladdin - to me they're all pretty much the same with a slight edge to Bellagio. I've also stayed at NY, NY - which is not very nice, The Frontier prior to the renovation, The Golden Nugget, the Plaza (the latter two are downtown).

The Monte Carlo is reasonably priced and fairly situated and could meet your needs. I've also had the most fun playing craps at the Monte Carlo.

We've also stayed at Hotels that are not on the strip on those rare occassions where gambling is not in the plan.

My favorite is the Mirage. In the middle of the strip with easy access to Harrah's, Cesaer's, Treasure Island, etc. The rooms are nice- not as nice as Bellagio, but not as expensive, either.
