Are there any decent hotels around here for my family and friends coming to town in May? Thanks in advance for any info.

Short Hills Hilton, Grand Summit Hotel.

Obviously very pricey.

There is also a Holiday Inn on 22 in Springfield.

It’s a motel, not a hotel, but over the past several years I've sent a ton of people to the Kenilworth Inn at exit 138 on the G.S. Parkway, (908) 241-4100. Their rates are $99. per night Mon.-Thurs., and $89. on Fri., Sat, and Sun...

Check it out, it’s only 10 minutes away, and BTW, no one has ever complained to me about them....

Good luck Mr. T

There's a relatively new hotel on Prospect Avenue in W.Orange, next to The Manor; it may be a Marriott Residence or Courtyard. I've had guests stay at the Summefield Suites on Columbia Turnpike (S.Orange Avenue's extension), just past Rt. 24. It's a solid 15+ minutes, but clean, spacious, and reasonable. My guests did the roundtrip Friday night, Saturday morning, and Saturday evening, and lived to tell about it.

I wouldn't suggest the Turtle Brook Inn or the Kenilworth Inn. The Grand Summit is nice, as well as, the W on Rt. 10 in Livingston. It's really not that far...

I second the recommendation for the Summerfield Suites on Columbia Turnpike in Morristown. Suites have full kitchens and a bedroom separate from the living area, which is really nice for families with kids. Their weekend rates are pretty reasonable - you can usually get a rate of under 100/night; cheaper if you book online.

We've had friends/family stay there when they visit and nobody has minded the drive.

'fugee, why wouldn't you recommend the Turtle Brook Inn or the Kenilworth Inn?

I think the Turtle Brook is fine! I've stayed there and my parents have stayed there. It's close by and clean and the staff is nice -- not luxury but absulutely fine with me. AND the chinese place next door have good dumplings, amazing chicken, and moo shu. Yum.

The Turtlebrook Inn is ok, and very close. However, you'll be paying about the same for a basic motel as you'll pay at the Summerfield Suites for much more. There's also the Wilshire on Pleasant Valley Way in W.Orange; they refurbished a very old resort (from when the Oranges were a destination for vacationing New Yorkers). It's supposed to be very nice.

The reason for my "non-suggestion" is based on negative reviews from colleagues staying at those locations. Maybe they're OK for the non-business traveler...
