Guys any tips on the best diner food in SO. Just new to the area and wasn't too impressed with the Blue Moon diner. Looking for a tip to bring some visitors on Saturday?? |

about Blue Moon: the service is sometimes slow, but I love eating out on the sidewalk area when the weather is nice. I think the food is fine - not great, but certainly not bad. |

You won't find much in South Orange, but might I suggest Chris's Texas Weiner right up the block from the Blue Moon Diner. They are very nice people and have fantastic breakfast....can't say anything about the other food on their menu, but it's typically what you'd expect to find at a place called a diner.

Looking for a good diner in SO is like looking for decent sushi in Mogadishu. If these are out-of-towners looking for the classic diner, make the trek to the White Manna in Hackensack or even the Tick-Tock Diner on Route 3. |

Ritz Diner. Mt. Pleasant Ave. Livingston. Go, already! -s. BTW: Texas Wiener serves a mean Gyro, too. And don't forget about Syd's on Vauxhall Rd. in the Millburn Mall. |

And for what it's worth, the Maplewood Diner on Springfield Ave (near the bus depot) is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Unfortunately, the non-smoking section is not very non-smokey. |

Is it my imagination or is the Maple Leaf getting a little sloppy? When Steve frist bought it and stayed open for dinner it was first rate food at reasonable prices. The staff was friendly and trained and we really enjoyed going there if we were seeing a movie in town or just had no other plans. In the last 6 months it has seemed rather seedy and not very clean and the food service is a little sloppy and the food just does not seem up to par. I have not seen Steve lately either in the morning or on the Saturday evenings that we have been there...maybe we have just been going on off nights...It used to be a favorite...has anyone else out there had the same experiences lately? Steve was there at 7:10 this morning working the grill. We also saw him at lunch on Sunday and breakfast on Saturday. Saturday night he wasn't there, but I figure the guy needs a break from time to time. Everything we had was fine ... only problem was a relatively new waitress who probably just needs a little more time. |

We were recently at the Texas Weiner, which we really love. I'm glad to see they now limit smoking to the bar area. It's a big improvement. |
