I got really good recommendations on chowhound.com in the Atlantic States or Pennsylvania section before going to Philly in August. One excellent recommendation was for a breakfast place..Stephanie's I think it was called, in the Italian District. Would love to see a place like that imported here. |

Morimoto! Restaurant actually owned by the Japanese Iron Chef who used to work at Nobu in NYC. Funky place, excellent Japanese food and good service. Not cheap but more reasonable than comparable places in NYC. Alternatively, here's always cheesesteaks! From any cheesesteak place in Philly... even food trucks. |

I'd take myself out to Route 30 West, to Tacquet at the Wayne Hotel, and enjoy a splendid meal. In easy traffic, you'd be back downtown in 25 min or so. |

Hank Zona......found a place in NY with similar feel to Sabrina's.......called Sosa Borella. There are 2 locations: one in TriBeca on Greenwich St. and one in theater district, 8th Ave. and 50th St. Enjoy! |

Jones is very good for casual dining. Right next door to Jones is Angelina's, which is very good Italian, but a bit on the expensive side. If you like calimari--theirs is the best. Tangerine is another great restaurant, again it's pricey. Can't say enough good things about Buddakahn. On most nights, reservations are a must--but it is fantastic! There is a great magazine that's available at most of the hotels, called Philadelphia, I think. It lists lots of great restaurants to try. Happy eating. |

Jones & Buddakahn (as well as several other trendy places) are owned by Steve Starr, reigning Kahuna of Philly's Hot Eatery League. -s. BTW: I love FORK. Check it out! http://www.forkrestaurant.com/ |
