My 2 friends and I are looking for a good place to go where we can have a few drinks and nice dinner (not too expensive) and a place that won't rush us out! We love to sit and chat! I would love to stay around the area....Hoboken/NYC is too far. Any thoughts?

You say a night out with the girls?

I have a few thoughts, but also a few questions... How old are the "Girls"? Married or single? On a week night or weekend? A bar or BYOB?

Cent'Anni has a bar, which is nice if you're all gathering together first before sitting down to dinner. They don't rush you out either. When we've been there, we've never felt like they were trying to clear out a table quickly. If you are done with dinner and still want to hang out for a drinkie - you can move over to the bar.

Thanks Mayor McCheese, I lost it for a minute. It was getting late and my wife wasn't around when I posted....

And, I second Cent'Anni. It's very social, you never feel rushed, the food is good, and the music is always tasteful and entertaining...

Cent'Anni is fantastic! That is one of my favorite places for girls night. They are always accomodating. Sometimes we will go in the bar and have apps and drinks, we have never been rushed.

If you don't mind the smoke Martini's in Millburn is very hip and has pretty good food.

Also try Huntly Tavern in Summit or Trap Rock Brew Pub in Berkeley Heights. GREAT food!

"I think it is vacant."

Dear Mr.Maplewood,

They're open with new ownership and still employ the same staff. I don't believe they ever closed, not even for a day...

I'm curious as to what made you think it was vacant? Did you personally check it out before you posted, or did someone tell you it was vacant?

Thanks to all for the great posts re Cent'anni - not trying to use this site for advertising but I just took ownership of Cent'anni and wanted to set the record straight..we are very much open (always were), with the same great staff in the kitchen and out front, and the same, if not more, accommodating attitude and phenomenal live music

I'd be up for a girl's night out sometime soon -- it only takes me about 13 minutes to stumble home from Cent Anni's -- I've clocked it.

Yes, everything was great, especially the service.

It was a great plan that the new and old owners kept mostly the same staff when they changed ownership. The staff is wonderful. It makes us feel very comfortable when we come in.

We met another couple there for dinner to talk about buying their house boat docked in Toms River. Has anyone ever owned one?

If you venture to Hoboken try elysian cafe it absolutely beautiful It is a french bistro very affordable and again it is absolutely beautiful very small make a reservation and ask to sit in the dining room. They also own Amandas. They have free parking two blocks away. And a good tip...for a $15.00 corking fee you can bring your own wine! They do have a bar. I had a great burger $11.00 with the best french fries and my wife had fish. The menu is a typical french bistro>

A perfect place would also be Antonellas. But go for the second seating on the weekend 8:00 and stay till your done. You can bring your own wine and my friends usually bring a shaker of martinis!!

At Antonellas you can also look out the window and laugh at all the people trying to park in this town.
