Meatloaf was their specialty when I was there a few years ago, and it was great.

Ya know, it's interesting about this place. I've been there twice in six months - the first time was really good (yah, had the meatloaf), the second time was fair to mediocre. I actually forget what I had, if that says anything. My wife had the braised short ribs, which were quite lackluster. It's a nice place, but not very consistent.

I enjoyed the Guiness Irish stew last time I was there.

Besides being the nicest place to sit in within Maplewood Village, AFare is also the alternative to outrageously priced meals elsewhere. While the standards are always the best bet, the flashes of pure creative food that do appear frequently on the menu are not to be overlooked. I reccomend talking to the chef directly. Talk about the wines you are bringing...and with some notice the food can be created around what you like and what they feel would work best.

Make the place what you want it to be and it will be.

There aren't many places that work that way.

That's the best advice i"ve heard about that place, personally, I love it there. So many times I've made new friends there trading glasses of wine with tables near ours, the chef is great and encourages this, my favorite line of his is "show me yours and I'll show you mine" meaning He will open a bottle of his own private stash to pour for people who show an interest. It's a great friendly place and you really feel as if you walked into his home, as a stranger and he makes you afriend. Oh yeah, He can cook like it's nobodies business too.

It one of the few places that regularly has sweetbreads.

If they invested in a new awning they'd earn the money back quick.
